Our Voice program values students as individuals and prepares them to establish careers as 21st century artists. At CCPA you will work intensively with world-class faculty in applied lessons and coaching sessions, learn foundations in theory, history, and language skills, address professional issues and arts entrepreneurship, perform in innovative productions guided by leaders in the field, and belong to a community of students and alumni thriving in the arts.
Just blocks away from the Lyric Opera and Chicago Opera Theater, music venues, theaters, museums, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, °µÍø½ûÇøÆƽâ°æ’s campus is in the center of one of America’s most culturally vibrant and influential cities. As a CCPA student, you will have regular opportunities to hear and see renowned and emerging artists and establish connections to the industry. Voice students frequently participate in internships and apprenticeships, sing in professional choruses, teach in arts enrichment programs, collaborate with student colleagues on creative projects, and network with professional artists who call Chicago home.
As a CCPA voice student, you will study privately with your applied teacher for the duration of your degree program, sing in performance classes, work with our coaching staff in various settings, and have the opportunity to sing for guest artists. Opera productions, ensemble and performance projects are selected to support individual technical and artistic growth as well as professional marketability.
Our faculty understands that your career path will be unique to you. Whether you want to perform canonic classical works, sing across styles, genres and disciplines, develop new works, or establish a portfolio career in which performance is but one part of your professional life, our program is adaptive to those interests. In addition to seminars on the professional performing artist or the business of singing, our interdisciplinary faculty with industry connections across all areas of vocal performance and arts administration offers opportunities for valuable professional development.
